Death: She died on January first, 1992.
Major Academic Events: She was the first woman to earn a Ph.D. in mathematics from Yale University in 1934. Then in 1952, she created the first compiler for computer languages. She continued to win many awards including the Nation Medal of Technology in 1991 and a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
Contributions to Computer Science: Grace hopper was the first women to program the first computer in the USA. She developed the first computer complier and the first programing language which revolutionized the world of computers.
